What to do with the cards after fieldwork, so that no frame is lost and the data reach biomon.app.
Copying from the cards
- On a computer or an external drive, create a session folder, e.g.
Polissia_Nature_Reserve_Summer_2026. - Inside it, create a folder for each camera named with its ID:
0501,0502,0503and so on. - Copy the whole content of each card into its folder, without selection or renaming.
- Repeat for all cameras.
Warning: format a card only when its data are stored in at least two places.
Metadata
Enter deployment metadata (coordinates, dates, IDs, equipment problems) in the online table right in the field, not after the season. For FZS partners, this table replaces the former Basic Reporting Form.
Hand-over and upload
- FZS partners pass the data through shared storage (OneDrive), and the project team uploads them to biomon. Later each park will have its own administrator who uploads the data directly.
- When uploading through the browser, photos are reduced to about 960 pixels, which is enough for AI. About 0.2 MB goes to the server instead of 5 to 8 MB per frame, four files at a time.
- A broken connection is not a problem: the upload can be resumed from where it stopped.
Warning: the originals stay with the institution. Keep your own copy of the raw data for at least 5 years.
